Premier League giants Manchester United are having a disappointing season, despite currently sitting second in the table. The Red Devils find themselves 12 points behind their eternal rivals Manchester City, though both City and Chelsea, who occupy the third spot, have a game in hand over United.
Having almost allowed City to run away with the title already, Jose Mourinho will need to make a big statement in the January transfer window, which conveniently happens to have just opened.
The man that the Portuguese coach has in mind to turn his side’s season around is Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi, according to the Star.
The Argentinian striker has already bagged an impressive 17 goals in 19 Serie A apearances, and has established himself as one of Europe’s most prolific marksmen.
With Romelu Lukaku having recently picked up a head injury, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic also sidelined through injury, United are in need of a striker to convert some of their draws into wins.
Icardi could be the perfect man for the job, and it would certainly be interesting to see how he fared in the English top flight.
