It’s safe to say that Premier League giants Arsenal were up there with the winners of the January transfer window, having added both Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Henrikh Mkhitaryan to their squad, as well as convincing the want-away Mesut Ozil to sign a new contract.
Arsene Wenger is already looking forward to the summer however, with the prospect of adding more players to his squad. Schalke’s Max Meyer is one of the names on the veteran coach’s list, according to the Guardian, to join the Gunners’ midfield.
Meyer is in his sixth season with the Bundesliga side, and has established himself as an ever-present threat from midfield as part of the Schalke team. The German has made 15 appearances in the league this season, and has been somewhat overshadowed by teammate Leon Goretzka.
The addition of Meyer to Arsenal’s squad would likely make them slightly more competitive, which is vital given the fact that they currently sit five points off their usual fourth spot after 26 games.
