Bundesliga giants Schalke have produced quite a coup by tying down star midfielder Max Meyer to a new long-term deal.
The 18-year-old has been putting in some excellent performances since he was promoted to the first team set-up, with the likes of Chelsea and Fiorentina expressing interest in his services.
However, the Miners have finally persuaded the youngster to commit his long-term future to the club, with the player signing a new contract until June 2018.
According to Bild, Schalke have also significantly increased the player’s release clause that had stood at €18 million, although the new figure was not disclosed.
The 18-year-old has been in scintillating form this season, managing 3 goals and an assist in 11 Bundesliga appearances.
This will come as a huge boost for Schalke as they continue their battle for a top 4 finish, with the Miners priced at 4/5 after climbing to fifth with a 3-0 triumph over Stuttgart.
