Celta Vigo striker Maximiliano Gomez Gonzales is closing on a January move to China.
Marca has reported that the Uruguayan is set to leave Celta despite only arriving last summer with an unnamed Chinese club pushing hard to secure the signature of the 21-year-old.
Gomez arrived on the back of a €4 million deal during the summer transfer window from his hometown club Defensor Sporting and went on to score six goals in 12 La Liga matches this season.
The top scorer in the Uruguayan football league was even rewarded with his first international call-up this season.
Gomez is under a five-year deal with Celta Vigo and was initially against the move to China but is said to have his head turned by lucrative financial details included in the offer. The striker gave his nod and a deal is imminent, according to reports.
Celta Vigo are in for a thick paycheck as well knowing that Maxi Gomez’s transfer will be worth about €25 million.
