Argentine striker Maxi Lopez has revealed that he plans to leave Catania in the January transfer window.
The 29-year-old has failed to nail down a regular starting berth since returning to Stadio Angelo Massimino and has only started 4 Serie A fixtures this season.
And with the Elephants sitting at the bottom of the league standings, Lopez has made it clear that he wants out in January.
“I have closed the chapter at Catania,” Lopez said in an interview with Argentine magazine Rock & Pop.
“My spell here has ended here, but I will not return to Argentina, I will continue playing in Europe.”
Maxi Lopez began his career at River Plate and in 2005 earned a lucrative move to Barcelona.
However, having failed to prove his worth at Camp Nou, the 29 year old enjoyed spells with Mallorca, FC Moskva and Gremio before signing for Catania in January 2010.
Maxi Lopez has since scored 23 goals in 78 league matches for the Elephants, while also spending some time on loan at AC Milan and Sampdoria.
