Lyon captain Maxime Gonalons has poured cold water on speculation linking him with a January move away from the club.
The highly rated midfielder was on the verge of joining Napoli in the last two transfer windows, but he ultimately remained at Stade Gerland.
And even if top European clubs remain keen on his services, Gonalons is not desperate to leave les Gones at the moment.
The 25-year-old, who has another two years left on his contract, has even suggested he is prepared to sign a new deal at Stade Gerland.
“I like my everyday life, I have flourished at my club, so why leave?,” Gonalons confessed to French newspaper Le Parisien.
“Besides, I am in negotiations right now. I will certainly extend my contract in the coming weeks.”
Maxime Gonalons has come through the youth ranks at Lyon and went on to make 152 Ligue 1 appearances for les Gones, scoring 5 goals in the process.
After showing some improvement in recent weeks, the French giants host Lille later today and they can be backed at 1/1 to claim maximum points.
