May 15th: Wednesday’s La Liga Double – 4/1 Special, Betting Tips & Predictions

While Real Madrid might have already stormed their way to an historic 36th La Liga crown, there are still plenty of battles that need to be decided.

As the likes of Sevilla and Atletico Madrid steal centre stage on Wednesday night, we have four La Liga showdowns on the cards.

For those of you looking to stick on a Wednesday flutter, we have found a couple of the most intriguing Spanish betting markets.

20:00 Sevilla vs Cadiz

Although Sevilla might have opened the New Year at the heart of an infamous relegation scrap, Wednesday’s hosts now have a shock top-half finish at the top of their agenda. Opening the midweek fixtures sat just two points adrift of skyrocketing their way into the top-10, Quique Sanchez Flores’ men will certainly be excited to make a return to Andalusia here.

While Los Nervionenses might have been disappointed over the weekend as they suffered an action-packed 3-2 loss at the hands of Villarreal, that is the only defeat that Sevilla have suffered from any of their previous six La Liga appearances.

Last seen at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan storming their way to a routine 3-0 victory against Granada, the one-time Watford boss has seen his squad win four of their previous five top-flight showdowns in front of their own supporters.

With that hometown purple patch highlighted by a stellar 3-2 win against Real Sociedad on March 2nd, Sevilla should be smelling the chance to claim an immediate response on Wednesday night.

Although Cadiz might have drawn a line under their extended rut over the weekend as they snatched a 1-0 victory at home against Getafe, the Yellows are seeking an almighty miracle in the race to keep hold of their La Liga status.

With just three top-flight appearances remaining this season, the midweek guests sit five points adrift of safety and bracing themselves for another stern examination against their local rivals.

Claiming just three wins from any of their previous 31 straight appearances – a rut that stems all the way back to September 1st – Mauricio Pellegrino’s men have also gained a reputation for their glaring issues on the road.

Along with losing all of their last three away fixtures by an aggregate score of 9-1, they have also collected just a single victory on their travels over the past 13 months.

21:00 Getafe vs Atletico Madrid

While Atletico Madrid might have suffered Champions League heartbreak last month as they eventually fell to a 5-4 aggregate defeat against Borussia Dortmund, Diego Simeone’s men are enjoying a real domestic romp. Already storming their way to another top-four finish this season, Wednesday’s guests will now be looking to collect local bragging rights when they travel across the capital here.

Last seen over the weekend putting in another rugged performance as they secured a 1-0 victory at home against Celta Vigo, the former Spanish champions have won all of their previous three La Liga appearances by an aggregate score of 5-1.

Likewise, collecting 15 points from just their last six top-flight outings, Atletico have also found some much-needed defensive stability over the past fortnight.

Now recording consecutive La Liga clean sheets from the first time since the end of January, it should also be noted that Simeone’s side are unbeaten in all of their previous 25 straight meetings against their local rivals – a run that stems all the way back to November 2011.

Although Getafe might still sit in the driving seat to claim an eye-catching top-half finish this season, Jose Bordalas’ men do have the feel of a squad limping their way over the finishing line.

Suffering a disappointing 1-0 defeat away at Cadiz over the weekend, the former Valencia boss has seen his squad muster just a single victory from any of their previous six La Liga appearances.

Failing to registering consecutive La Liga wins since opening the New Year, Getafe have drastically struggled with their consistency since returning from Spain’s festive interval.

Hit with a 3-0 drumming when they welcomed Atletico across the capital last season, Bordalas’ downbeat squad are rightfully pencilled in as an underdog contender on Wednesday night.
