According to Sky Sports, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is set to try and bring Paris Saint-Germain’s Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich’s Thiago Alcantara to the Etihad this summer.
The report claims the new English champions have set £200 million aside for improving the squad in order to defend their title as they aim to bring in three key players. Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha is also mentioned as a player of interest, but he’s not at the same level of priority as Mbappe and Thiago.
Having worked with Thiago at Bayern and Barcelona, Guardiola believes he would be a great addition to his midfield as Fernandinho, David Silva and Yaya Toure have all gone past the age of 30. The Catalan is determined to get his business done as early as possible, because the World Cup will already limit his time to work with new players in pre-season.
Mbappe’s loan deal becomes permanent this summer, but due to a potential breach of FFP rules, the French giants might be forced to sell the talented teenager immediately.
