Paris Saint-Germain star Kylian Mbappe has been a long-term target for Real Madrid, with the Spanish giants aiming to get him to spearhead their attacking line in what they see as an exciting new sporting project. However, as reported by AS, the move for 22-year-old from the French to the Spanish capital has drifted away in terms of probability lately.
Mbappe finished off a superb counterattack to open the scoring in his team’s 0-2 win over Olympique Marseille on Sunday, his 150th game for the club. Speaking to the press after the game, he said it was an honour to reach that number of appearances, and expressed a hope that he would play ‘many more’.
Further more, the forward recently spoke openly about his future and the ongoing negotiations over a new contract, and revealed that if he was to sign it, he would be staying at the Parc des Princes for a long time yet.
Quite apart from his words, a new contract signed would probably mean an extremely hefty fee would be required to prize him away from PSG, and given the financial impacts of the ongoing pandemic, Real may have to concede that they simply cannot afford to pay it.
