The future of Kylian Mbappe remains up in the air, with the Paris Saint-Germain star running out of contract at the end of the season and reports coming from Spain repeatedly insisting that Real Madrid are confident of acquiring his services on a free transfer.
Mbappe struck twice to help PSG beat Saint-Etienne 3-1 on Saturday at the Parc des Princes, equaling Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s tally for the club at 156 goals. The pair of them now share the second place on the club’s eternal list, behind Edinson Cavani who left with 200 to his name.
Commenting on his new place among these players, as relayed by L’Equipe, Mbappe said it remains to be seen if he will break Cavani’s record. Remarkable as he is, it’s hardly to be expected he’d be able to score more than 34 goals between now and the end of the season, so his words obviously point to the fact that he might yet accept an offer from the club and stay in the French capital.
