Former Fulham striker Brian McBride says the club’s unsettled star Clint Dempsey would be a success at Liverpool.
Dempsey, 29, has attempted to force through a move already by deliberating sitting out the club’s pre-season tour and has now refused to play for Martin Jol’s team until he is transferred, with Liverpool reportedly interested.
Jol has insisted he would welcome Dempsey back into his squad readily, and claimed no bids have been made, but former Fulham striker McBride is sure his fellow American would shine at Anfield.
“If you’re asking me if I think Clint can succeed (at Liverpool)? For sure,” McBride told Goal.com.
“He’s got not only the talent and the ability but he’s a very determined individual. He adapts extremely well to so many different situations.
“Take Fulham for example. He’s had four or five different coaches. He’s always put his head down and showed them what he’s made of.
“I think that’s a sign of not only a very good player but one that is able to adapt and make the transition regardless of who the manager is.”
Fulham made light of Dempsey’s absence to beat Norwich City 5-0 in their English Premier League opener on Saturday.
