Motherwell have confirmed former Rangers and Scotland star Stuart McCall has been appointed as their new manager.
The Fir Park club had been on the lookout for a new boss since Craig Brown left the post earlier this month to manage Aberdeen.
McCall was an integral part of the Rangers squad that won nine Scottish Premier League titles in a row throughout the 1990s, and he also played for Bradford and Everton as well as winning 40 caps for his country.
He was most recently manager of English League Two side Bradford City, but endured a difficult time at Valley Parade and left the club by mutual consent in February.
McCall, 46, has signed a two-and-a-half-year deal to manage Motherwell and he said he is looking forward to the challenges of the job.
“I am excited by the job and will give it my all,” McCall said.
“I know Motherwell very well as a club and have long respected what they are all about.”
“It’s a family club at the heart of the Scottish game and they are doing all the right things to be successful and sustainable.”
“I have inherited a good squad with a proven system for identifying new and young talent.”
“I want to build on that starting today to ensure we compete for success in the league, cup and Europe.”
