Mick McCarthy attacked Wolves defence for their late loss to Chelsea at Molineux on Monday.
Frank Lampard popped up to volley home an 89th minute winner but the England midfielder could have been sent off earlier in the match for a crunching tackle on Adam Hammill.
McCarthy refused to comment on whether Lampard was right to remain on the pitch and insisted his side should have prevented the goal.
“I’m livid we’ve conceded a goal. It’s irrelevant for the defenders (whether Lampard should have been on the pitch), I’m not interested in that question,” he said.
“Defend the bleeding cross and we’re okay then we can talk about that afterwards. Let everybody else decide that. I’m not interested.”
“We should have defended it, they shouldn’t have scored and I should be talking about a one-all.”
Wolves had fought back from a goal down to score an 85th minute equaliser through Stephen Ward but McCarthy doesn’t want his side to have to keep on fighting back in matches.
“Yeah great, I’m getting sick of it (coming from behind),” he said.
“That’s back-handed compliments, we work hard, all that’s a pre-requisite of any footballer.”
“Anybody that plays in my team, making sure that you do not lose when you go back to one-all when there’s only two minutes left on the clock is what I’m interested in and we couldn’t do it.”
“I’ve had a snarl, a proper snarl (at the players]. That’s not acceptable that for me. We don’ take any points out of it.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas has called on his team to reproduce their away form at Stamford Bridge.
“I think our results away from home have shown that we are more tranquil, we have less anxiety, this is a thing we also have to address in our home games at Stamford Bridge,” Villas-Boas said.
“We’ve discussed it between us and I think we can correct it.”
The Portuguese praised Fernando Torres’ performance, and despite the striker not getting on the score-sheet, Villas-Boas believes he plays a pivotal role for the team and has their full backing.
“I think we’ve been believing in the player for quite some time and he still has our confidence. I think today he had a good game.”
“If I’m not wrong he is one of the players who has the most assists and this is as important as scoring because it means that he is a collective player and not selfish in front of goal.”
The 34-year-old was also delighted with how his team responded after Wolves equalised.
“I think it was good to find the strength of character just after Wolves scored to continue to attack, to continue to have that small belief that we could score and we got it. I think that we got extremely well rewarded,” Villas-Boas said.
