Blackburn manager Sam Allardyce has admitted that Benni McCarthy could quit the club in the January transfer window.
McCarthy is unhappy with his bit-part role at Rovers and is desperate for regular first-team football ahead of the World Cup in his homeland South Africa next year.
“Benni might go,” said Allardyce. “He’s not happy playing a bit part in the side at the moment.
“Like everything else, it’s about what we can get in if we let him go. If we can get something in, we’ll let him go. If we can’t, we won’t let him go.
“If it suits everybody, we will let him go. He isn’t playing enough and is not quite as settled as he would like to be with performances.
“We’ve got four strikers and we don’t have a big budget for another one, but maybe we can bring someone in if a player leaves.”
