Crystal Palace are interested in signing Everton midfielder James McCarthy, according to the Mirror.
The Eagles are keen on strengthening their midfield ahead of Wednesday’s transfer deadline and are keen on the Republic of Ireland international though they are reluctant to shell out the £20m asking price.
Manager Alan Pardew has turned his attention to McCarthy after being priced out of a move for Newcastle United’s Moussa Sissoko as they look for an upgrade on former captain Mile Jedinak, who has moved on.
McCarthy followed former Toffees manager Roberto Martinez to Goodison Park from Wigan Athletic in the summer of 2013 and has since racked up one hundred and sixteen appearances in all competitions, scoring five goals.
He has been capped thirty-nine times for his country with his last international appearances coming as his side lost to hosts France in the round of sixteen at this summer’s European Championships.
