Former England boss Steve McClaren will replace Co Adriaanse as head coach of Eredivisie side FC Twente, according to reports.
The 64-year-old Adriaanse was named Twente coach at the start of the 2011-12 campaign and has guided the Enschede side to third place in the Eredivisie table, the round of 32 in the Europa League, as well as winning the Johan Cruyff Shield.
However, the flamboyant coach has had a troublesome relationship with Twente president Joop Munsterman ever since the start of his spell, and the club have now reportedly decided to let go of Adriaanse.
It is believed that Twente have reached an agreement with former head coach McClaren to replace Adriaanse until the end of the season.
McClaren previously led Twente in 2009-10 and guided the club to the only Eredivisie title in their history.
Twente stressed on Monday that no decision has been made about the future of Adriaanse, but they have yet to comment on the latest reports about the coach’s departure.
