Swansea midfielder Josh McEachran said he feels he has a lot to offer Brendan Rodgers’ side once he is back to full fitness.
McEachran, who is on loan from Chelsea until the end of the season, made his first Premier League start for the club against Norwich, having been previously only named as an unused substitute.
The 18-year-old has now revealed his relief at making his first league start for the Welsh club and insisted he can make a big impression when he returns to peak fitness.
“It’s good to get my first start in the league, now hopefully I can go on,” McEachran told the South Wales Evening Post.
“Norwich was only my second 90 minutes in two or three months. It was hard to get into it because my fitness is not 100 per cent but I thought I did okay.”
“The training intensity is really good at Swansea so I hope to get fit through that, then in a few more matches I’ll be up to speed.”
Two Grant Holt strikes and an Anthony Pilkington goal in the space of 17 second-half minutes condemned Rodgers’ men to just their second home defeat of the season against Norwich.
And McEachran said Swansea were unlucky not to take anything from a game which he hoped his team-mates can put behind them ahead of the weekend’s clash with Stoke.
“It’s unfortunate we lost against Norwich. I thought we played well in some parts of the game so it’s disappointing,” he said.
“I thought the team did well and I thought I did well. But we have to forget about that now and focus on the next game.”
