Birmingham manager Alex McLeish revealed on Wednesday that his club have made an improved offer for Wigan midfielder Charles N’Zogbia.
McLeish has been keen to land N’Zogbia for several months and has increased his bid for the France star after an initial offer, believed to be around eight million pounds, was rejected earlier this month.
N’Zogbia, 24, has also been linked with Sunderland, Juventus and Fiorentina and seems certain to leave the DW Stadium after Wigan manager Roberto Martinez criticised his attitude and left him out of the season-opener against Blackpool.
McLeish hopes to capitalise on the situation and he said: “We have made another bid for Charles and we wait to see if it’s successful or not.
“We’re awaiting Wigan’s response. At the same time we’re in the hands of the gods in terms of the other offers. If there are other clubs in for him, then we have to wait and see.
“But we’ve tried – and we’ve tried our best. The board have worked hard to make these kind of things happen.”
