McNair signs new Man Utd deal

Northern Ireland international defender Paddy McNair has signed a new contract at Manchester United which will keep him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2017.

Northern Ireland international defender Paddy McNair has signed a new contract at Manchester United which will keep him at Old Trafford until the summer of 2017.

McNair, 19, came up through United’s Academy, and has made 12 appearances in all competitions for the club this season.

“Paddy has risen through the ranks to become an integral part of the first team squad,” said United boss Louis Van Gaal, who–earlier this week–revealed the 19-year-old has a chance to be the Red Devils’ right-back for the next 10 years.

“He has all the attributes to develop into a top player.

“Promoting youth players is very important both to myself and to the club and I am delighted Paddy has signed a new contract.”

McNair added: “To make my debut for this great club earlier this season was a dream come true.

“I’m pleased to have signed a new contract. I have come through the Academy here and I feel I am improving my game all the time with the help of the manager, the coaching staff and my team-mates.”

Rodgers: Liverpool have offered Sterling an ‘incredible deal’

Liverpool boss Brendan Rodgers has revealed the club have offered star winger Raheem Sterling an ‘incredible deal.’

Sterling, who has been linked with perennial UEFA Champions League contenders Bayern Munich and Real Madrid in recent months, is one of the most highly-rated young stars in Europe.

The England international, whose current deal at Anfield is due to expire in June 2017, has tallied five goals and five assists in 23 English Premier League appearances for the Reds in 2014/15.

Liverpool have offered Sterling a new deal, and manager Brendan Rodgers hopes the player will decide to stay on Merseyside instead of joining Bayern, Real or another big European club.

“I know in the case with Raheem is that he’s been offered a wonderful deal for a young player who is 20 and is still developing,” Rodgers said.

“He’s made some great strides in the last couple of years but as I said he is now getting his reward for that and hopefully his representatives can find agreement with the club.

“The player is very happy and wants to continue working in the way that he has been.

“I’m only saying what I know the club has offered, which is an incredible deal for a young player. I have spoken to Raheem a number of times and he is very, very happy here and you see that in his game, in his play.”
