Kieran Trippier believes Dwight McNeil should not contemplate leaving Burnley at this point in his career, as he revealed to the Burnley Express.
The 20-year-old winger has been on fine form this season. He has scored twice and laid on five assists in 31 games in all competitions, and the high level of his performances has alerted the likes of Manchester United and Arsenal to his capabilities. Both of those clubs have apparently expressed an interest to take him to Old Trafford and the Emirates, respectively, but the Atletico Madrid fullback, who spent four years with the Clarets before moving to Tottenham Hotspur in 2015, believes McNeil should stay where he is and accumulate valuable game-time to aid his development.
Trippier says the youngster has the right manager in Sean Dyche to help him grow, and if he were in McNeil’s shoes, he’d remain at Turf Moor past this summer and just ‘keep playing games’.
