Medel nears Sevilla switch

Boca Juniors midfielder Gary Medel is on the verge of signing with Sevilla after completing a medical on Thursday.

The 23-year-old Chilean international is understood to have agreed to a four and a half year contract with the La Liga club, after Sevilla and Boca agreed to a reported fee of six million euros.

Medel had been linked with a move to Europe after impressing for Chile during last summer’s World Cup, and said he was determined to make the most of his move.

“I am happy to be here, hopefully everything goes well,” Medel told Sevilla’s official website.

“I’m a player who puts a lot effort and heart out on the field. I hope my game can contribute to Sevilla.I wish I could give a new title to Sevilla FC.”

Sevilla are currently eighth in La Liga and take on Deportivo La Coruna on Saturday.
