Watching Declan Rice complete what was a blockbuster £105million move to Arsenal this summer, it is fair to say that England’s elite have stollen most of the headlines this summer.
With Three Lions skipper and now-former Tottenham record-breaker Harry Kane eventually completing his stunning switch to German heavyweights Bayern Munich earlier in the month, Gareth Southgate’s international stars have certainly been in high demand.
Likewise, along with James Maddison making an immediate impact after arriving at Tottenham for a fee of £40million, Jude Bellingham has also enjoyed a remarkable start to life at Real Madrid after completing his historic move from Borussia Dortmund.
With only a week remaining until the summer transfer window slams shut, we have taken a look at a trio of England internationals who could still be on the move.
Eric Dier – Tottenham
Storming their way to a 2-0 victory at home against Manchester United last weekend and laying down a real marker in north London, it appears that Tottenham are enjoying life under new boss Ange Postecoglou.
Although Spurs might have been left heartbroken as England skipper Kane completed his blockbuster move to German giants Bayern Munich, it looks like another Three Lions ace could be heading for the Tottenham exit.
While the Lilywhites might be unbeaten in both of their opening two Premier League appearances this season, Eric Dier is yet to feature in either of Postecoglou’s matchday squads are there has been growing speculation that the ex-Sporting Lisbon defender will be on the move over the next week.
Clearly not part of Postecoglou’s first-team plans going forward, Sky Sports reported on Friday that Fulham have made an inquiry about the possibility of signing the 29-year-old on either a permanent or loan basis this summer.
With Tottenham desperate to get Dier’s salary off of their wage bill before the window slams shut, Sky Sport’s report suggests that the Cottagers are confident about completing a deal.
Dean Henderson – Manchester United
With Andre Onana arriving from Inter Milan this summer for a fee in the region of £47.2million, it is no surprise that the ex-Ajax shot-stopper has immediately cemented his spot as Erik ten Hag’s number-one choice between the sticks at Old Trafford.
However, while Dean Henderson might have watched David de Gea officially leave the former Premier League champions last month following a 12-year stint in Manchester, the England international goalkeeper once again finds himself at a career crossroads.
Spending last season on loan at Premier League returners Nottingham Forest, Henderson has made it abundantly clear that he is only seeking regular first-team action.
With United inching closer towards a deal for Fenerbahce’s Altay Bayindir, it has been suggested that the one-cap England international will finally be granted a permanent move away from Old Trafford over the next week.
Although Henderson might have been linked with a full-time return to the City Ground this summer, it is Crystal Palace who now appear to be leading the chase.
The Daly Mail reported on Wednesday that the Eagles still remain in talks over a fee for the 26-year-old.
Kalvin Phillips – Manchester City
While Manchester City might have made real history last season as they became the first English club since 1999 to be crowned treble champions, Kalvin Phillips was forced to watch on from the sidelines.
Although the former Leeds starlet might have made the move to the Etihad last summer for a fee of £45million, the England international has endured nothing short of a nightmare 13-month spell under Pep Guardiola.
Only making a handful of Premier League appearances last season and clearly not a vital part of Guardiola’s first-team plans, it appears that the 27-year-old is desperate to kickstart his career away from the blue half of Manchester.
Once again yet to make a single minute of first-team action since opening the 2023/24 campaign. Phillips remains heavily linked with a move away from the Etihad before the summer transfer window slams shut next week.
With it suggested earlier in the week that the reigning Premier League champions would be willing to allow the 27-cap international to leave on a season-long loan spell, Liverpool remain in contention to complete what would be a blockbuster late deal.
