Megson sounds interest in Boro post

(GSM) – Former Bolton Wanderers manager Gary Megson has revealed his interest in taking over the vacant Middlesbrough managerial post.

Championship outfit Boro, who were among favorites for promotion, parted company with former boss Gordon Strachan on Monday after the club’s poor start this season.

Megson , 51, has twice helped former club West Bromwich Albion and believes he has the necessary credentials to help the Riverside club out of their current situation.

Megson told Sky Sports: “I’d be interested in (Middlesbrough).

“I think a lot of people would be interested in that. It’s a big club.

“They’re obviously not doing so well at the moment.

“I’ve taken a club very similar to that in West Brom, a club that’s had a good past and not firing on all cylinders.

“It’s a job I would be interested in, but I’m sure a lot of other good managers would be as well.”

Megson was last Bolton manager from 2007 until late 2009 when he was sacked after the Trotters slipped into the relegation zone halfway through the Premier League season.
