Italian TV station SportMediaset has learned that Manchester United are keeping close tabs on AS Roma stopper Mehdi Benatia.
The Red Devils are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements seeing as how the likes of Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra are all expected to leave.
And they seem to have identified their main target for the heart of defence as SportMediaset reports that United are keen on Mehdi Benatia.
The Red Devils have already been in contact with the defender’s representative, with a view of submitting official proposal for his services in the summer.
Benatia only joined AS Roma from Udinese last summer, and he has enjoyed a brilliant start to his career at Stadio Olimpico.
While being a part of the back four that conceded mere 11 goals in 24 Serie A fixtures, the Moroccan has also managed to score 5 goals in the process, and has started all league games for the Giallorossi this term.
