(GSM) – Jonathan Mensah was delighted with his World Cup debut for Ghana in the 1-1 draw against Australia and says “it was special for me”.
Udinese defender, who looked shaky and nervous for long spells of the game but Mensah revealed that he managed his duties perfectly.
“It was a massive game on a massive stage and to have played a part in it was special for me,” he told KickOffGhana.com.
“I felt no nerves, just a determination to go out there and play the way I always have and I got a lot of support from the other guys in the side. Now I feel I am adequately prepared if the boss needs me against Germany,” the defender explained.
Mensah played for the Under-20 youth championship and helped Ghana to claim the prestigious cup.
Ghana manager Milovan Rajevac expects to have Mensah against Germany, “There was a small possibility for John Mensah to play against Australia but we decided not to take any unnecessary risks because the Germany game from day one has always been the most important match. We would have him back for that one.”
