La Gazzetta dello Sport is reporting that Napoli star Dries Mertens could be available for sale for as little as €28 million.
The lengthy talks over a new deal at Stadio San Paolo have produced results as the Belgian forward is set to extend his stay until June 2021, but that does not mean the 30-year-old will remain with the Azzurri for the foreseeable future.
Namely, the new contract includes a release clause, believed to be around €28 million, although it only applies to foreign clubs.
In case any Italian side want to recruit Mertens, they will have to find an agreement with his current employers.
The Belgium star has enjoyed by far the most successful campaign in his career, having managed 31 goals and 14 assists in 44 competitive appearances.
His Napoli take on Fiorentina in the penultimate fixture of the season and they have been made 1/4 favourites to claim maximum points.
