Mertens wants Premiership switch

Belgian newspaper Het Laatste Nieuws is reporting that Napoli forward Dries Mertens wants to play Premier League football next season.

The 29-year-old is playing the best football of his career, bagging goals for fun on all fronts, and no wonder he is currently in high demand.

And even though Napoli have offered the player a new and improved deal, it would appear as though he has set his sights on a summer exit.

Inter Milan are the latest top side to have shown interest in Mertens, but Het Laatste Nieuws claims that Mertens would prefer a Premier League switch.

The experienced footballer is ready for a new adventure and he wants to test his skills in England’s top flight, where several of his international teammates have already left their mark.

Mertens has been on fire since he was handed a centre forward role and he has so far scored 25 goals in 26 starts this term.
