According to a recent report from The Athletic, Lionel Messi is closing in on a move to Inter Miami in the January transfer window.
At the very least, the decision will reportedly be made after the World Cup, which would serve as a U-turn with it initially seeming as if a return to Barcelona was going to be on the cards.
Inter Miami have long since been looking to bolster their roster in a big way under David Beckham and while they’ve already done so in plenty of ways, bringing in someone like Messi would represent a true changing of the guard for the MLS.
He may not be viewed as the universal best player in world football anymore, but he’s still more than good enough to completely dominate in a league like Major League Soccer.
The stakes are high and with Barca looking questionable, Messi could easily leave PSG for the States.
