Messi thought about leaving Barcelona

“Sincerely, at that time, I thought about leaving”.

Those are the short and sweet words of Lionel Messi who revealed during an interview with RAC1 that he considered leaving Barcelona back in 2013. The reason for this was because he felt he had been treated poorly by Spain when he was investigated for tax fraud which, unbelievably, first happened five years ago.

Messi is still widely considered to be the best footballer on planet earth to this day, but that hasn’t stopped fans from speculating as to what his next move will be in the beautiful game. He has remained loyal to Barca for many, many years, but at this stage, there are more than a few options out there if he wants to end his career elsewhere.

It doesn’t appear to be all too likely that’ll happen, but in this game we’ve come to learn that you should always expect the unexpected.
