Massimo Moratti, once the owner of Inter Milan, believes it would be possible for his former club to sign Lionel Messi from Barcelona.
The 32-year-old Argentine superstar has been a one-club player all his career so far and he has been well-documented as one of the greats in the history of the game. But Barcelona have been having some issues between the squad and the hierarchy this season, which inevitably led to reports about their captain considering playing out the rest of his career elsewhere.
Speaking to Radio Rai, Moratti expressed a belief that luring Messi away from Camp Nou wasn’t impossible even before those issues emerged or the Coronavirus pandemic began taking a toll on the game, especially given that his contract apparently has a clause which enables him to leave Barcelona for free at the end of each season if he wants.
The former Nerazzurri owner does recognize that it would take a ‘tremendous effort’ to make it happen, but he obviously doesn’t see Messi joining the Inter revolution under the guidance of Antonio Conte as impossible.
