Catalan super club Barcelona owe a great debt to superstar Argentinian Lionel Messi for season after season of sheer brilliance, but this campaign the five time Ballon d’Or winner seems to have turned his hand to transfer rumour creation.
Last week Messi hinted that his club mate and fellow countryman Javier Mascherano may want a move back to the Premier League, and in the past few days the winger has reportedly urged Barcelona to make a move for Tottenham star Dele Alli, according to the Express, perhaps just to prevent their eternal rivals Real Madrid from acquiring him.
Alli has already bagged seven goals in 13 appearances across all competitions this season for Tottenham, and last campaign he netted 22 times, making him a highly prolific midfielder and an influential part of Mauricio Pochettino’s side.
If Barcelona are to make a move for the England international it will likely be instead of Brazilian winger and Liverpool star Philippe Coutinho, who the Catalan club have been chasing with some vigour in the past few months.
