Metalist Kharkiv have completed the signing of Ukrainian defender Oleksandr Romanchuk from Dynamo Kyiv. The 25 year old joins Metalist on a three year contract.

Romanchuk started off his career with Desna Chernihiv and was with them till 2004 before joining Dynamo. He however only made a handful of appearances for Dynamo and also had short spells at Dnipro and Arsenal Kyiv.

Romanchuk was part of the Ukrainian U-21 team that finished second in the 2006 European Championships. Ukraine reached the finals of that tournament before losing to the Netherlands.

Romanchuk has also been capped twice by the Ukrainian national football team.

Metalist finished third in the 09/10 Ukrainian Premier League and will compete in the Europa League next season.
