AC Milan striker Fernando Torres is being linked with a summer move to Mexico, Cancha has revealed.
The Spaniard will be out of contract at the end of the season and with Atletico Madrid unlikely to keep him at Vicente Calderon, the 31-year-old will be on the lookout for a new club.
The latest reports suggest that Monterrey are ready to make a move on Torres in the summer transfer window.
Despite leading the chase in Mexican Liga MX, los Rayados were not happy to see their rivals recruit a number of high-profile players, and they want to make the Spaniard their marquee signing.
They are prepared to offer Torres a yearly wage of €6m to €8m, and thus ward off competition from Chinese clubs who are also keen on the striker.
Fernando Torres has done fairly well since returning to Vicente Calderon, scoring 8 goals in 20 La Liga starts, while netting three times in six Copa del Rey fixtures.
