French coach Henri Michel is poised to join struggling South African club Mamelodi Sundowns this weekend on a two-year contract.

A club official who requested anonymity said Friday that the 61-year-old who guided France to third place at the 1986 World Cup, would replace former South Africa coach Trott Moloto at the Pretoria-based club.

Despite a huge cash injection from owner and mining magnate Patrice Motse

pe, Sundowns have dropped eight points in their first six league matches and were eliminated in the first round of the League Cup by minnows Bay United.

Michel has extensive experience of Africa, coaching the national teams of Cameroon, Tunisia, Ivory Coast and Morocco plus high-profile clubs Zamalek of Egypt and Raja Casablanca of Morocco.
