French media outlet L’Equipe has suggested that Marseille may be tempted to cash in on star striker Michy Batshuayi in the near future.
The 22-year-old arrived as a potential replacement for Andre-Pierre Gignac a year and a half ago and he did well to justify the €6 million price tag.
After showing a great deal of promise in his maiden season in Ligue 1, Batshuayi has already scored 9 league goals this term, with top European sides lining up for his signature.
And even though Marseille have no other quality strikers in the squad, they may be tempted into selling as club’s financial situation is far from impressive.
Having seen Anthony Martial command an exorbitant transfer fee, OM chief Vicente Labrune hopes he can sell Batshuayi at a good price and ensure the club’s stability over the next few years.
Marseille welcome Monaco to Stade Velodrome on Sunday evening, and they are 19/20 favourites to emerge victorious.
