Middlesbrough 11/10 to beat Sheffield United in Tuesdays Championship clash

Competition: Championship

Market: Middlesbrough win

Odds: 11/10 @ Bet 365

Tipped by many to secure their spot back in the Premier League, Tony Pulis’ pre-season contenders will play host to a Sheffield United side who have their own hopes of securing a surprise playoff spot.

Starting with the hosts on Tuesday, although Tony Pulis may have seen the likes of captain Ben Gibson and former Chelsea man Patrick Bamford leave Tyneside over the weekend, many pundits have Middlesbrough as a pre-season contender. Despite trailing Millwall 2-0 in their Championship opener last Saturday, defender George Friend grabbed a 97th-minute equalizer ensuring Boro are on the board for the season and Pulis insists plenty of positives can be taken from their last outing. One man to watch will be forward Marcus Braithwaite who found the net against The Lions and appears to be carrying on his impressive pre-season form.

As for Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United side, although The Blades took a well deserved 1-0 lead against Swansea last weekend, they were unable to keep up the pace and eventually fell to a 2-1 loss in their Championship opener. Although Wilder let 12 first team players leave Bramall Lane this summer, The Red and Whites did enjoy an impressive pre-season and have set the target of securing a playoff spot in nine months time. While the visitors will take some positives away from their opener, we do believe they will struggle up against a Boro side who have only lost one match at home since March.
