Middlesbrough 9/5 to beat Sheffield United in Tuesday nights Championship clash

Competition: Championship

Market: Middlesbrough to beat Sheffield United

Odds: 9/5 @ Bet365

Two sides that are still firmly in the race to secure a playoff position come the end of the season, on Tuesday night Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough side will travel to Bramall Lane to meet Sheffield United hoping for a late push.

For Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United side, after being promoted from League One last season, the Blades were briefly flirting with the automatic positions before falling off the pace after Christmas. While United may have only picked up one win in their last seven outings, Wilder still remains just four points adrift of their guests on Tuesday night and a win could see them firmly in contention to secure a playoff position. If the Blades do want to make a late push for the top six, they will need leading goalscorer Leon Clarke to find his form. Although he has 17 league goals this season, the forward has just two goals in his last 12 outings.

As for Tony Pulis’ Middlesbrough side, since appointing the former Stoke and West Brom boss before Christmas, the North East side have found a fine run of form and now remain favorites to secure a lucrative playoff spot. Sat sixth in the Championship table, Middlesbrough’s recent success has been down to the form of former Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford, the English striker now has nine goals in his last nine Championship outings, something that now gives the Reds a point advantage over Millwall in seventh. Coming off the back of a 2-0 win against Nottingham Forest, Pulis’ side have just one win in their last nine appearances and have not been beaten in their last six matches away from home.
