Premier League newcomers Middlesbrough are set to complete the signing of Aston Villa striker Rudy Gestede, according to BBC Sport.
The 28-year-old is reportedly undergoing a medical after the two clubs agreed on a transfer fee believed to be in the region of £6 million.
Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce also went on to confirm the transfer offer has been accepted.
“I would envisage something would happen there,” Bruce told BBC WM. “The two clubs have agreed a fee and he’s up there for talks.”
Rudy Gestede showed a great deal of promise in his maiden season with Aston Villa, scoring 5 Premier League goals, but he couldn’t help the club avoid relegation to the Championship.
However, he has struggled for playing time this season, starting just eight league fixtures, while making another 10 substitute appearances.
Having scored 17 goals in 20 Premier League matches, Middlesbrough are in desperate need of attacking reinforcements and they will want Rudy Gestede to help out Alvaro Negredo and Cristhian Stuani in the second part of the season.
