Middlesbrough are interested in signing Jack Simpson from Rangers in the January transfer window, according to The Scottish Sun. It has been reported that Middlesbrough manager Chris Wilder admires Simpson and wants to sign the defender for his club on loan until the end of the season.
Rangers have reportedly told the 25-year-old English central defender that he is free to leave as long as the Gers are able to strike a suitable deal. Simpson joined the Gers on February 1 when Steven Gerrard, now in charge of Aston Villa, was the manager of the Ibrox club.
Simpson has struggled for playing time at Rangers and does not seem to have a future at Ibrox. The defender has made one start and two substitute appearances in the Scottish Premiership for the Gers so far this season, providing one assist in those games. The defender has also played once in the Scottish League Cup for the Gers this campaign.
