Aston Villa and Leicester City are set to battle for the services of out-of-favour Liverpool
striker Fabio Borini, according to the Express.
The Italy international made just five starts in all competitions for Brendan Rodgers’ side last season, having spent the 2013/14 campaign on loan at Sunderland.
In total, since signing for Liverpool in the summer of 2012, Borini has played just thirty-eight times for the Merseyside outfit, scoring three goals while his one and only cap for his country so far came in a 1-0 friendly defeat to the United States five months prior to his move to Anfield.
The 24 year old began his career with Chelsea and has also enjoyed loan spells with Swansea City and Roma.
Borini’s hopes of reviving his career at Liverpool were dealt a blow by their recent addition of Belgium forward Christian Benteke, while the club have also brought in England U21 international Danny Ings.
