Egypt international Mido has yet to return to training with relegated Middlesbrough, two days after the squad met up to begin preparations for what they hope will be a promotion campaign, media reports said Wednesday.
Fellow striker Afonso Alves is back in training, meanwhile, two days after his teammates were supposed to report.
According to the Press Association, Middlesbrough are investigating the late shows.
Some players, including Turkey’s Tuncay Sanli, were given an extra few days break owing to international commitments at the end of last season.
A club spokesman said merely that: “The players returned to training yesterday. A number of them were missing, some with permission and others without.
“The matter will be dealt with internally.”
Coach Gareth Southgate is said to be ready to sell Mido, who spent the second half of last season on loan at Wigan.
