(GSM) – Middlesbrough’s Egyptian striker Mido has rejoined Ajax on a free transfer.
Mido, 27, has endured a difficult, injury-plagued time on Teesside and now moves to a familiar ground having played at the Amsterdam Arena in 2001-03.
The Egyptian, who first played at local giants Zamalek, has been unsettled after being informed he is surplus to requirements at Riverside by manager Gordon Strachan.
Ajax boss Martin Jol, who coached Spurs after Mido’s departure, believes Mido’s addition increase the squad’s depth.
Jol told the club’s official website: “We needed an extra striker and we have limited resources which have to be considered.”
Mido has also played for Celta de Vigo, Olympique Marseille, Roma, Tottenham Hotspur, Wigan Athletic, Zamalek and West Ham United.
