Championship side Middlesbrough’s Egyptian striker Mido is set to leave the club after manager Gareth Southgate accepted an undisclosed offer for him from an unnamed club.
Former Boro player and manager Southgate had admitted that Mido and Turkish striker Tuncay would leave the club following Stewart Downing’s departure from the relegated side.
“We have received an offer for Mido which the club finds acceptable,” Southgate told Middlesbrough’s website.
“It’s up to the player, maybe something will happen over the next week.”
Mido signed for Middlesbrough from Tottenham in a £6m transfer in August 2007.
However, following the club’s relegation to the Championship last season the former Roma striker failed to turn up for the first two weeks of pre-season training and was fined two week’s wages.
The news of his impending departure follows Downing’s £12m move to Aston Villa.
Mido, who has scored seven goals in 32 games for Boro, spent the end of last season on loan at Wigan, where he scored two goals in 12 games.
