AC Milan are closing in on Genoa full-back Sime Vrsaljko, La Gazzetta dello Sport has revealed.
The Rossoneri have made the Croatian defender their number one priority, although they do not seem prepared to meet his €8 million asking price.
Nevertheless, the two sides are at advanced talks that should ultimately see Vrsaljko join the San Siro outfit.
The fact that Milan have accepted a loan offer from Genoa for Alessandro Matri, while agreeing to pay part of his wages is enough to suggest that an agreement for the Croatia international could be on the horizon.
The Rossoneri have decent options at right-back with Italy internationals Ignazio Abate and Mattia De Sciglio at their disposal, but while the former continues to be linked with a summer exit, the latter is likely to switch to left back in case Vrsaljko arrives.
Sime Vrsaljko, 22, joined Genoa from Dinamo Zagreb last summer, and went on to make 22 league appearances for the Rossoblu.
