Milan closing in on Fabio Coentrao; Barca line up move for Rossi

Milan closing in on Fabio Coentrao

AC Milan are ready to offer €22.5 million for Benfica full-back Fabio Coentrao as they are eager to reach an agreement with the Eagles before the January transfer window.

The Rossoneri have been hot on the trail of the Portuguese international ever since he shown at the World Cup in South Africa and they have been informed by the player’s representatives this is the time to make the bid.

The Italians are looking to close the deal before the race hots up for Coentrao in January and they will offer €22.5 million for the Benfica defender.

The 22-year-old has a release clause in his contract of €30 million but the Rossoneri believe their relationship with Benfica sporting defender Rui Costa will help them sign the player for much less.

Benfica chiefs have hinted they could sell the player in January, so the deal taking Coentrao to Milan looks to be close to fruition.

Barcelona line up move for Rossi

Barcelona are preparing an offer for Villarreal striker Giuseppe Rossi as Pep Guardiola looks to add more attacking options to the side.

The former Manchester United striker has been in excellent form this season, having scored 7 goals in 11 La Liga games.

Pep Guardiola really appreciates Rossi’s style of play and he believes the Italian would offer a much needed alternative for the attacking trio of Messi, Villa and Pedro.

Villarreal could be reluctant to sell their most prized asset after they rejected offers worth €12 million last summer, although Rossi has a release clause said to be around €40 million in his contract.

All things considered, Barca would have to offer in the region of €20 million if they want to get their man.

Rossi’s pace and excellent sense of goal makes him an ideal signing for Barcelona, although he could be pretty expensive for a player who is likely to play second fiddle at Camp Nou.

Chelsea want Benfica stopper to solve their defensive crisis

Chelsea are lining up bid for Benfica defender David Luiz after John Terry and Alex were ruled out for an indefinite period of time.

After losing Terry and Alex through injury, Carlo Ancelotti is left with Branislav Ivanovic as the only recognized centre-back, with the situation seriously threatening to hurt Chelsea’s title bid.

With youngster Jeffrey Bruma and Paulo Ferreira the only other players who could fill in at the heart of defence, the boss is desperate to sign a high-quality defender in January.

The Blues have been keeping tabs on Benfica hotshot David Luiz, who’s become a key player for the Eagles over the last few years, and the current situation is likely to push them into making a bid earlier than planned.

The highly coveted youngster is worth around €25 million, but Chelsea don’t have a lot of time to negotiate and are likely to be forced into paying the full price.
