Serie A giants Milan have confirmed reports linking defender Taye Taiwo with a summer move to Benfica.
The Nigerian full-back join the Rossoneri on a free transfer from Marseille last summer, but he was never given a real chance at San Siro.
The player has returned to the club after spending last season on loan at Queens Park Rangers, but he will now be allowed to search for a new club.
Taiwo was recently linked with a move to Benfica and AC Milan sporting director Ariedo Braida confirms the Nigerian could join the Eagles this summer.
“Taiwo could join Benfica,” the Milan chief was quoted as saying in Record.
“The transfer is possible in any form, everything will depend on the proposals received by the player and his agent, who will also submit names of interested parties.”
Benfica are searching for a new left-back as they are not entirely satisfied with Brazilian Emerson and they believe Taiwo would be a good addition to the squad.
After featuring in just 4 Serie A games for Milan, the Nigerian international made 15 Premier League appearances for QPR last term.
