AC Milan assistant coach Mauro Tassoti has added fuel to speculations linking the Rossoneri with a January move for Newcastle full-back Davide Santon.
The Italian hotshot, who was handed his Azzurri debut at 18, has been heavily linked with a return to Serie A following some impressive showings at St James Park.
Both Inter Milan, a club where he started his career, and AC Milan have been linked with a move for the highly-rated defender, but the player has remained adamant he is perfectly happy at Newcastle.
Nevertheless, AC Milan assistant coach Mauro Tassoti admits he would love to see Santon return to Italy.
“Santon was a very promising young player and I do not think he has lost those qualities”, Tassotti told Sky Sport Italia. “It would be good to have him back in Italian football.”
Davide Santon joined Newcastle in a €5.7 million deal from Inter and quickly established himself as an important member of the squad at St James Park.
He has made a total of 46 Premier League appearances for Magpies, but has yet to score a league goal.
