AC Milan have confirmed reports linking them with a move for high-profile centre-back in the January transfer window.
After new signings Cristian Zapata and Francesco Acerbi failed to prove their worth at San Siro, the Rossoneri are keen to add another central defender to their ranks in January.
“Yes, there will certainly be an important defender coming to AC Milan,” sporting director Ariedo Breida confessed to Le Parisien.
The Rossoneri are expected to return for Montpellier centre-back Mapou Yanga-Mbiwa having failed to sign the France international in the summer.
They have also been linked with a move for Marseille stopper Nicolas N’Koulou and Feyenoord star Bruno Martins Indi.
Milan have had a very disappointing start to the season after staying without Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Thiago Silva in the summer, with leaky back line proving to be a major problem.
Besides new signings Zapata and Acerbi, Milan boss Max Allegri can also count on Philippe Mexes, Daniele Bonera and Mario Yepes when it comes to centre-back position.
