AC Milan president Silvio Berlusconi has revealed that the Rossoneri are interested in signing Italy international midfielder Marco Verratti from Paris Saint-Germain, Sky Sports understands.
Verratti, 20, joined PSG on a five-year deal from Italian side Pescara Calcio in the summer.
Serie A leaders Juventus are also reportedly keen on the 20-year-old, who has previously publicised his desire to return to Italy.
Regarding the latest speculation linking Verratti with a move to the San Siro, Donato Di Campli, the Italy international’s agent, said: “If that is the case then he’ll have to talk with Paris Saint-Germain and he has an excellent relationship with PSG director Leonardo.
“In my opinion, though, Marco will not be returning to Italy. He is a very important player for the Paris club and he has married their project.”
Verratti, who broke into the Azzurri setup in August, has made 18 league appearances for Les Parisiens this season, tallying three assists.
The 20-year-old sensation has drawn comparisons to Italian living-legend Andrea Pirlo, who was let go by Milan in 2011, and regretfully so, insisted Berlusconi.
“I shouldn’t have left Pirlo go,” Berlusconi told Sport Mediaset. “But we now have Riccardo Montolivo.”
“For the future, we are interested in Verratti. He is one of those players that we are examining, then we will see if there are conditions that make the deal possible.”
In other news, Milan striker M’baye Niang has added another year to his contract, which will keep him at the San Siro until 2018.
The 18-year-old Frenchman is enjoying life in Milan after breaking into Massimiliano Allegri’s first-team in mid-January.
Chelsea and Man Utd want Son
Chelsea and Manchester United have reportedly submitted concrete offers for in-demand Hamburg striker Heung-min Son, according to the player’s agent.
The likes of Arsenal, Inter Milan, Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur have been keeping tabs on the 20-year-old South Korea international in recent weeks, but Chelsea and United are the only clubs to have made formal offers, confirmed the player’s agent Thies Bliemeister.
“Inter Milan’s emissaries saw a couple of his matches, but so far I have not had any contact with the Italian club’s officials,” Bliemeister told Interlive.
“A transfer in the next summer? He has signed a new contract with Hamburg SV extending it for one year, but there have been many offers for him as from Manchester United and Chelsea.”
Son, who joined Hamburg’s youth academy from FC Seoul in 2008, has netted nine goals in 21 league matches for the Bundesliga outfit this season.
The South Korean is one of the hottest prospects in football at the moment, with interest from Chelsea and Manchester United confirming precisely that.
