Corinthians defender Gil is high on AC Milan’s hit-list, Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport can reveal.
The Rossoneri are desperate to sign a high-quality centre-back who can slot straight into the starting line-up at San Siro and they are looking at a number of targets.
Rather than searching for their man in Europe, Milan officials have turned to South America, with Corinthians star Gil their number one target.
The 27-year-old appears to be playing the best football of his career and a return to Europe may appeal to him after spending a year and a half at Valenciennes.
Gil is on the brink of making his first appearance for the national team and no doubt a move to Italian Serie A would improve his chances.
The likes of Dede, Eder Balanta, Walter Kannemann and Antonio Briseno are other names on club’s wish list.
Milan have a number of quality stoppers in the ranks, but boss Filippo Inzaghi does not appear to be happy with his current options.
